What is Precast Concrete?

Precast Concrete, also known as GRC (Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete). GRC contains not only white portland cement. But also silica sand with a silica content of 90% or higher. Besides, alkali-resistant glass fiber is also added to the mixture. Also, compatibilizers are forming with water, plasticizers, and other chemical components. It is made in factory conditions of production using Premix or Spray technology. The pre-prepared mixture is poured into the premix system into the mold. In the spray system, the concrete mixture is pulverized into the mold. With the help of pulverization, cut alkali-resistant glass fiber is added.

Surely, precast means pre-production. GRC (Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete) is also used to express precast concrete products. Overall, GRC (Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete) is also called precast in our country. Because of being a material created by pouring into a mold or spraying in the factory.

Which Quality Standards Are Precast Concrete Produced?

GRCA (Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete Association) is the GRC manufacturers association in England. You can access up-to-date information at grca.org.uk. GRCA is giving information about precast (GRC) tests performed during and after production. So, test methods accepted in Europe are determined as EN 1170-1…EN 1170-8 with 8 tests. FIBERTON A.Ş. carries out the test methods used in Europe in its laboratory. Also, shares the relevant test results with the project authorities.

European standard EN 12467 determines the criteria for precast concrete. Also, the Turkish Standards Institute applies the relevant standard as TS EN 12467. , TSE, tests the material quality on a daily, weekly, and 28-day basis. And keeps the certificate obtained under these conditions up-to-date. FIBERTON A.Ş. has TS EN 12467 certificate. Please click to view all our quality certificates.

Still, in traditional concrete, steel is used as reinforcement. Besides, precast concrete has left this task undertaken by steel to alkali-resistant fiber. Surely, alkali-resistant fiber is not affected by moisture and humidity. Because of that, the structure remains solid for many years. Thus, increases tensile and compression values, 3 times higher than the standard concrete. Because the alkali-resistant fiber is dispersed in 3 dimensions in the concrete mixture.
