What is Precast?

What is precast? It is defined as pre-cast, which means poured into a mold. In other words, we can also say glass fiber reinforced concrete for precast.

Elements of Precast

4 components are indispensable for Precast. We create the precast with the contributions for the purpose and needs of the project. Basic components;

white portland cement,

-silica sand (90% or more silica content),

-glass fiber (high alkali resistance and containing more than 16.5% Zirconium) and water.

Chemical additives are; they make the mixture fluid.

What is PRECAST? What is the Production Method?

The production methods, it is divided into two premix and spray method. Weight is very important in the production of large elements. Therefore, the thinnest possible thickness is required. For this, the spray method is generally used in such cases. The premixing method is generally applied to relatively small elements where the loads are evenly distributed. Because balustrades and struts are suitable for premix production.

Mold Types Used in Precast Production

It is among the wooden, silicone, or polyester mold types. There are 3 main determining factors in mold selection. These are pattern repetition, texture, and form. The molded type suitable for the elements to be produced is selected. The mold is used with efficiency. It provides economy in mold cost.

Precast Fasteners

Carcass design is done with static calculations. Besides, the metal structure is formed by adding a halfen c channel and ped bars. The carcass is produced by the design of the precast element. During the production of the precast material, it is put into the mold and left to set. As a result, it moves as one piece with the set element.

The welding process is very important when creating the carcass. The high heat that occurs when welding the pad bars to the box profiles with the Halfen c channel may cause the box profiles to lose their properties. Undoubtedly, the heat generated during welding causes the water in the steel to be lost, thus causing the steel to become brittle. In short, for this reason, steel less than 2mm should not be preferred. FIBERTON does not use a box profile smaller than 2.5 mm in the carcasses of its precast elements.
