Facade Cladding Systems

Facade Cladding Systems

What are Facade Cladding Systems?

Facade Cladding Systems are made by using profiles. Also, anchors and similar auxiliary materials are assembled on the outer surfaces of the structures. The system, which is hanged on the facade, is called a “Facade Cladding System”. In facade cladding systems, precast concrete, and aluminum may be chosen. Also glass and natural stone are other alternatives used in facade cladding.

Main issue on design of construction is protection from negative effects of weather conditions. Among them, the most durable and long-lasting against external effects is precast gfrc/grc or uhpc. Gfrc, grc, or uhpc materials are generally produced as precast (precast) concrete. In this way, it can be used as a wall or a panel. Apart from this, it is possible to produce it as a panel on several floors.

It provides architectural freedom. And it provides convenience in terms of usability. It provides advantages in terms of cost and time in large-scale projects. Due to such features, precast gfrc/grc, or uhpc concrete facade cladding systems are highly preferred.

The Role of Moisture in Facade Cladding Systems

The biggest enemy of the materials used in facade cladding is water and corrosion. Gfrc/grc, uhpc precast concrete preserves its structure for a long time thanks to the low humidity it contains. In this respect, it stands out one step further thanks to its resistance to corrosion. The change to be made in the design phase of the precast concrete, which is among the Cladding Systems, allows the rainwater to be evacuated without the need for a second additional material such as silicone.

Among the facade cladding, glass fiber reinforced concrete facade panels, known as GRC or GFRC in the world, have become the most widely used precast exterior wall element, especially in high-rise buildings, due to their advantages in our country.

Advantages of Precast Concrete in Earthquake

Gfrc, grc, or uhpc panels are able to move separately in an earthquake. Gfrc, grc, or uhpc, are the indispensable products of high-rise buildings. Therefore, allow very long-term use in buildings.  As a result of  a surface loss of 1 mm in 60 years.

When compared with similar facade cladding systems, gfrc, grc, or uhpc, it is easily seen that the advantages of concrete are in a structure that contributes to the external appearance of the buildings.
